About
Welcome to El Quijote, a delightful culinary gem nestled in the heart of Donostia, Spain, on Miramar Kalea. With its vibrant atmosphere and a menu that promises to satisfy both casual diners and food enthusiasts alike, this restaurant stands out for its commitment to quality and affordability.
As I stepped into El Quijote, I was greeted by a warm, welcoming environment bustling with the sounds of conversation and laughter. The friendly staff exudes a genuine enthusiasm for service, making guests feel right at home. One diner, John Schwenkler, emphasized the kindness of the staff, noting how they accommodated his family before the regular dinner hour, which speaks volumes about their hospitality.
The menu at El Quijote features an array of options, ideal for those seeking comfort food with a twist. I was particularly impressed by the diverse offerings. From tantalizing seafood paellas to satisfying burgers, there’s something for everyone. Georg, another patron, raved about the seafood paella, calling it one of the best he’s ever had, a testament to the freshness and quality one can expect here.
For those looking for lighter fare, the nachos served with freshly prepared guacamole and bolognaise sauce are a must-try. I was delighted to discover that Gilles Chapellon, who visited impulsively, found the nachos to be surprisingly good, enhancing their beach day with something special. The restaurant’s fair pricing makes it an excellent choice for families or anyone looking to indulge without breaking the bank.
Moreover, it's not just about the food; the overall experience is enhanced by the attentive service. Bob Taylor noted how patiently the staff handled his limited Spanish, ensuring a smooth dining experience. This kind of approachable service enhances El Quijote’s charm, ensuring that all guests feel welcome regardless of their language skills.

“ My family ate a nice meal here at a good price with friendly service. We were grateful that they could accommodate us prior to the regular dinner hour! ”
“ We were so hungry woulda ate a wet sock. Before we ordered looked at reviews. So we wernt expecting a lot, the burgers were great and the brews cold so dont let the 2.7 scare ya off. ”
“ We stopped impulsively on our way to the beach without checking first reviews. So i was a bit concerned after reading negative reviews. We stayed on the terrasse for a drink and then we ordered some food: fries and nachos. Nachos were actually quite good with guacamole prepared from scratch using fresh avocados and with bolognaise sauce. Prices were fair as well. Service was good. Waiter spoke Spanish, english and french. Delivery was super fast, done by a ‘delivery’ waiter only few minutes after order was entered on their portable devices. All in all a lot better than anticipated. ”
“ Great food - service is fast and very friendly. The seafood paella was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. ”
“ We wanted simple food to fill us up. Goal achieved. The staff dealt really well and patiently with our limited Spanish. The price is more than I would normally want to pay, but the staff are working on a May Day and I hope they get extra remuneration. We got 2 roast chicken, chips and salad, and a beer for 37 euros. It seems to be a national culture for restaurant toilets' to be very basic, and these were no exception, but they were functioning, which is better than some. ”
